Answers To Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of couples marriage education and enrichment?

Couples counseling can reverse the effects of a downward spiral. Hundreds of studies have concluded that the majority of people who receive help for relationship difficulties from a qualified professional are better off than they would be without professional help.

Here are some of the major benefits of couples marriage education:

*You can learn how to handle conflict and recover more quickly.

*You can find new ways to reconnect after a fight.

*You can identify which problems are solvable and which need ongoing management.

*You can repair damage, and begin to move forward together.

Who should attend couples premarital and marriage education?

Couples can attend sessions together or individually. Couples counseling works best when both partners have a desire to improve the relationship. However, even if your partner or spouse is not interested in working on the relationship at this time, you can still benefit from attending sessions by yourself. Having a caring and knowledgeable person to talk to can often result in improvements at home.

Sometimes couples start out together, and also benefit from individual sessions. In fact, we often recommend some one-on-one sessions as part of the couples counseling.

How long do the sessions last?

Sessions typically last either 50 minutes or one hour and 15 minutes. Longer sessions (lasting two hours or more) are available for couples who need a more flexible schedule due to travel or other responsibilities. Sessions shorter than 50 minutes are not recommended.

How many sessions will it take?

Answers to this question vary greatly. The majority of the couples we work with come a few times until they feel “unstuck” and then are able to continue moving forward on their own. This may take between 4 and 12 sessions. It doesn’t always take a long time to change your relationship. A lot can be accomplished in a few sessions of couples counseling.

Some couples come for a longer period of time, depending on how useful they find the sessions, how much they can/want to invest in their relationship, and how much time or money they have available.

Often couples start by coming once a week for a few weeks (4-6) and then space out the sessions. More rarely, couples come in twice a week.

We do not have a one-size-fits-all approach. Our job is to help you find solutions so that you can move forward, and eventually move ourselves out of the job of helping you with your relationship.

What about payment and insurance?

Payments can be made by cash, or credit card. Full payment is due at the time of each session.

The fee varies according to the length of session. We will be happy to answer your questions about our fee structure. Simply email
