Robin’s back-story is quite thought-provoking; she has a wide range of accomplishments and intellectual interests, and an expertise for pulling together information from many disciplines into her work, from research to personal experiences. Using an empathetic & entertaining style of leadership & humor, she encourages open interaction & participation among the members of her audience. This style of teaching & presenting allows participants to retain more of the material presented!
Robin is a National Certified Counselor, Master Career Counselor, and Distance Credentialed Counselor. National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Master Career Counselor (MCC) and Distance Credentialed Counselor (DCC), are special membership status from the National Career Development Association (NCDA) and the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE). The NCDA offers the Master Career Counselor honor only to those members who provide a full range of career services, including assessment to consumers. All MCCs hold master’s degrees in counseling or related fields; these professionals’ work and educational experiences are carefully screened to insure that their level of expertise meets six or more of the NCDA counseling competencies. She has also received a Career Coaching Certificate from the National Association of Colleges and Employers.
As a Certified Laughter Leader (CLL), Robin provides laughter therapy by properly interpreting promising laughter theories and practices into multi-generational, multi-cultural, systematic health and happiness program; promoting attitudes that support mental and physical health, thereby helping primary treatments work better; providing methods that are uplifting, simple and powerful; making the world a better place; helping people make better health choices; providing the best value in training; for individuals, organizations, and service to the community.
As a Distance Credentialed Counselor (DCC), Robin’s counseling approach that takes the best practices of traditional counseling as well as some of its own unique advantages and adapts them for delivery to clients via electronic means in order to maximize the use of technology-assisted counseling techniques. The technology-assisted methods may include telecounseling (telephone), secure email communication, chat, videoconferencing or computerized stand-alone software programs. Robin has a private practice under Robin S. Fleischer Counseling, LLC and works with several EAP client companies.
Robin is also qualified to administer the Prepare/Enrich marriage assessments, TypeFocus and MBTI, and other counseling instruments. The PREPARE/ENRICH Assessment is an online survey that you take with your partner to help you identify the unique strengths and potential growth areas of your premarital or married relationship. This tool has been used successfully by over 3 million couples in the last 30 years for healthier relationships! It must be interpreted by a trained facilitator.
Robin is a native Kentuckian and is so proud of her high school sweetheart, Sgt. Danny Fleischer, whom she has been married to for 30+ years. They have 3 awesome young adult children! Sgt. Fleischer has been in law enforcement for 24+ years and with LFUCG for over 19 years. He has been an FTO, FTO Coordinator, PPCT Instructor, Chemical Agent Instructor, served in Robbery/Homicide, received numerous accommodations, is a member of the POST team, and has received a Medal of Merit. As ‘empty-nesters’, Robin and Danny enjoy spending time with their pups; two adorable long-haired Chihuahuas, and Danny’s three Shutzhund enormous German Shepherd Dogs! They have 2 grand-dogs, and are looking forward to the next stage of family life.
Robin’s younger brothers are also on the Lexington Police Department; Sgt. Darin Salyer is the Sgt. in the Training Dept. and serves as a Sgt. on ERU and Billy Salyer is a Detective with the Forensic Services Unit. Many years ago, Robin’s step-father, David Hornback, served as a Lexington Officer so there is a quite a family history.
As a Law Enforcement supporter Robin was in the Citizens’ Police Academy Class #12 and in the Citizens’ Police Academy Master Class #11 and #12. Robin has also volunteered her time speaking to the families of new recruits on the challenges and rewards of being in law enforcement relationships and living this lifestyle. She has worked with former Police Chaplain John Welsh to co-teach classes on personality and stress to the Lexington Police during in-service training. Most recently Robin and Sgt. Fleischer received accreditation through the KY Department of Criminal Justice Training for modules and certified training on relationships and communication to co-teach with Police Chaplain Donovan Stewart during In-Service.
As a counselor, Robin believes that Officer Safety doesn’t have to be the only training priority–emotional survival has real effects on a career. She wants to see our Officers not only survive, but thrive emotionally in a law enforcement career! Robin is available for public speaking to law enforcement departments, law enforcement families & wives, for workshops for New Academy Classes and Orientations, and Police Wife Associations. Back the Blue! Danny and Robin serve on the Board of Trustees for the KY Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.).
